Cognitive training is still a relatively new field—which makes it an exciting space for new insights and research. That’s why Lumosity conducts cognitive training research and facilitates the research of independent scientists from over 40 universities—all with the goal of deepening our understanding of human cognition.
The Human Cognition Project (HCP) is our online, collaborative research platform. Through the HCP, we grant qualified researchers free access to Lumosity’s cognitive training tasks and research tools, as well as limited access to data on cognitive task performance. Individually, these collaborators investigate a wide spectrum of topics that interest them. As a whole, we're working together to push the field forward.

Lumosity's in-house researchers combine their backgrounds in neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and more to advance the field of human cognition.
Cognitive training is a rapidly-evolving field and there are always new questions to answer. Read about specific HCP studies that have now been published.

Lumosity scientists screen each application for rigor, feasibility, and the potential for the study to move scientific understanding forward. Successful applicants receive free access to Lumosity’s tools and, in certain cases, limited access to data on cognitive game performance. Currently, research partners are exploring topics such as normal aging, certain medical conditions, and the relationship between physical exercise and Lumosity training.
If you'd like to join the HCP effort you can volunteer to participate in research studies. Once you sign up, you'll be added to a list of interested volunteers. Individual researchers may then contact you and provide you with specific information about their projects—you can then choose to participate or not.
